Dreaming A Reality

the first roommate i had was a celebrity. not the famous one but his profile includes being included to a soap (where he portrayed the role of a kidnapper that got killed the next day), commercials for ice cream, crackers, local beer brands. he got offers to do sexy movies but let's just say he's more religious than i am.

i wonder how this guy can stay in a boarding house instead of a condo unit where he has to share a room, with me. personally, i don't like roommates because that meant sharing a space with someone i may not like. he answered that question by saying these words: i don't have money, can i borrow?

what?

that's how i remember it. he might be someone who gets lots of projects but he's one party animal as well. guess, it comes with the package. he has to join these events so he can endorse himself to producers, writers, artists and agents.with that, plus that fact that he's also supporting his family in the south, he usually ends up with zero account balance. he did try going outside of the country, to japan, spefically but his savings was invested on a wrong project.

what i like about him, though, is that he gets to pay back the very date he promised.

btw, i was working night shifts and he's usually out by the time i get back and vice versa. we often communicate via post-its. i sleep in the morning and he does whenever i'm not there. on weekends, it's either him who goes home or i do. one time, we didn't go home and stayed at the boarding house, he showed me his other interest, drawing. he's been working on this comicbook of his. probably inspired by the show charmed coz' the main character's a heroine. i was also commenting on how similar to wonder woman it was. he just said shut up and read. i didn't realize that minutes turned to hours. by the time, i finished reading, i was literally asking for more. he smiled and said to let him think of a story and give him time. i may not have admitted it but i became a fan that day.

last week, i got a call from him in a very excited voice. his work will be featured in a comic convention. i asked when and he said, april 14 and i should be there.

and there i was.

i was happy to see his dream finally materialized. but i was happier to see all the comicbooks, artists, and anything related. hehehe. sorry man but i really was. ha! it's like me being treated to a toy store or something when i was 8.

well, he keeps on saying to friends that i am his number 1 fan which is not true. lol! my sister is. i just happen to like the comicbook he did but i kept telling him he'll do well as a writer.

anyway, that day ended with me thinking how far have i gone? friends and family are now near their goals in life may it be just to have a family or as far fetched as building an empire. okay maybe that's too much but my point is, where does that leave me?

here is the list of what used to be my goals in life:

  • a comicbook writer
  • an entrepreneur (food, comicbook/toys or gadgets retailer, supplier)
  • a teacher
  • a graphic artist (majoring in advertising)
  • a game developer
  • a musician
well, these were my main thoughts and not be an office employee. i even thought of becoming a pornstar at some point (lol) but that's because i want to have a great body which i later realized to be something that i just want and not of a need.

i guess on my deathbed, i'll have full of regrets...
